Here's what you can do to help save Cleopatra 2525...

Please sign the petition! Also get your friends and family members to sign, and well as spreading the word through e-mail, message boards, mailing lists, newgroups, etc. If you have a website and would like to link to the petition, the address is:

http://www.petitiononline.com/savecleo/petition.html

I've also knocked up the following banners:

Thank you. :) As no one seems to know what is really going on with Cleo, this petition is more along the lines of showing studios and stations that there is fan support for the show. Once there is a certain number of signatures on the petition, then they'll be printed off and sent in batches to the offices of Studios USA and RenPics.

Even though signing a petition online is all very well (and much appreciated :) ) it doesn't count for as much as writing real, physical, material letters to Studios USA and Renaissance Pictures. The following are the addresses that Xena fans wrote in to call for a full 22 episode season when "Xena: Warrior Princess" was under threat earlier this month:

Dan Pasternack
Senior VP of Drama Development
Studios USA
8800 Sunset Blvd.
Los Angeles, Ca 90069

Email: feedback@studiosusa.com

LA Fax: 310-360-2677
NY Fax: 212-373-7660

LA Phone:310-360-2644
NY Phone: 212-373-7770

Even if the letters aren't read individually, a mass mailing effort would be sure to attract more notice. Therefore, I would also send copies of letters to the following addresses:

Studios USA
8800 Sunset Blvd.
West Hollywood, CA 90069

Renaissance Pictures
100 Universal City Plaza
Universal City, CA 91608

Pacific Renaissance Pictures Ltd.
550 Rosebank Rd.
Avondale, Auckland NZ

But if the policy of Studios USA and RenPics is to read each letter, make sure that you remain polite, and express your opinion in a positive way (ie. no swearing!) Also, a handwritten letter makes a more heartfelt impression than one that is typed.

I'll just throw the following ideas out on the table, if anyone wants to follow through on them:

  • The 'Save Jack' people have been sending in mini plastic cocktail swords with their letters - as did the Roswell fans with Tobasco sauce - perhaps something similar (something innovative) can be done for Cleopatra 2525.

  • Several fan groups have taken steps to buy full-page ads on the trade papers (eg. Variety, Hollywood Reporter) to either call for their favourite show to be renewed, or to thank studios for renewing their favourite shows. If we can get several hundred fans contributing a small amount of money to the cause, the cost can't be more than one or two dollars for everyone involved.

  • If you're going to any sci-fi or television conventions, canvass for support and opinions there. Campaigning on the web is great, but there will have to be a lot of viewers who don't have access to the net, or who don't keep posted on news about television shows through the Internet.

  • If you see any articles on Cleopatra 2525, or on the girls of Cleo (eg. Vicky Pratt and Maxim) write in and *thank them* for doing something - anything - on Cleo. This'll not only raise the awareness of the general public to the show, but maybe they'll do more stuff on the particular actress in the future.

  • Keep watching and supporting the show. If ratings - and this means for reruns too - remain high, it might convince The Powers That Be it would be a dumb move financially to axe it. You may also like to send letters of support to the cast and crew, either through the studios or through their agents, if you know the address.

  • As proposed on the Studio USA message boards - purchase Cleopatra 2525 merchandise. The best place to do this is through Creation the official supplier.

  • Buy the rights for the show and produce it yourself - but only if you have a couple of million dollars handy. :)
